More about the West End Market

Headlines about food politics have raised awareness of the importance of making choices about FRESH, LOCAL food available to everyone. For many Evanstonians with limited resources and/or mobility, the downtown Saturday market is not practical. The residents of Evanston’s West Side and adjacent neighborhoods would benefit greatly from fresh choices closer to home!

Not strictly a farmer’s market, the West End Market will include non-food vendors from the community (artisans, hair-braiding, etc.). The requirement for non-food vendors is that they/their goods are from the community and for the community.

The Market brings economic development to the 5th/2nd Wards: it would create one full-time and one half-time position, and many hands-on volunteer opportunities for community members, students, and others.
